What is the age range?
We are an adult football club, welcoming women and non-binary people from aged 16+.
At our Community Club, we have players aged 16 – 55+ playing with us across our various sessions.
Session are currently split into our Saturday Squad, Sunday Squad and then players who just want to attend training. We are always looking to expand and are working on adding more sessions in the near future.

What do I wear to training?List Item 3
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, whether that’s jogging bottoms, the latest Football shirt or an old t-shirt from the back of your drawer!
We play on 3G pitches so we would recommend wearing astro or moulded boots but trainers are also fine.
If you need any support with sourcing kit/equipment then please let us know. We can help!
-
Is it ok if I’ve never played before?List Item 4
Absolutely! We welcome players of all abilities, backgrounds and experience.
-
How does membership work?
In short, players pay a monthly fee. This is either full, half or contributory (nominal) rate depending on people’s individual circumstances. All the fees that players pay go directly into the club bank account and into the day-to-day running of the club.
We believe money shouldn’t be a barrier to playing football. We have players in our club who pay a subsided rate based on their circumstances – we are happy to chat this through and help in any way we can.
In an ideal world we would love to make our community football sessions free, but regular games, referee fees and pitch hire is expensive in London. We try to keep costs as low as possible for players by fundraising and writing funding applications.
Of course, the first session is free so you can see if we are the right club for you!
-
Do we offer trials?
Nope. It’s not in line with our club ethos. Everyone is welcome! It is us, South London Laces that are on trial when you come to visit us for the first time- it’s for you to decide whether we are the right environment for you (we hope so!). We adjust what sessions and activities we offer based on the needs and wants of players.
-
I’m not 16 yet, where can I play?
Our sister clubs, Hackney Laces and Limehouse Laces share our ethos but are over in East London. If you are looking for local South London club, we recommend Girls United .
What if I just want to play casual adhoc football? You can just attend training! We are also looking to expand our current provision to offer a turn-up and play session… so watch this space!
-
What if I just want to play 5-a-side?
That is fine. We use an app called SPOND. You can join our Five aside league team. Fixtures get scheduled every week, giving everyone the opportunity to participate whenever they are free. Just pay when you play.
-
Do we have socials?
Yes. Yes. Yes. We love fun. These vary and are open to all of our community. We have been to Bongos Bingo, Paintballing, quiz night, karaoke, end of season party, fancy dress football, arcade nights, bowling, beer pong and much more…! One of our most important success markers is that players make friends not just team-mates. Laces is more than football.
-
Can I support the running of the club?
Yes. We are always looking for help. We have a team of 10 volunteers who play for the club and support the co-design of everything we do! Players and volunteers investing their time and talents into the club is vital to making us what we are. If you don’t want to play but want to volunteer with us still get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
